🔶Venue: Hotel Okura Kyoto 🔶On-line:11/19 13:00~ Public release Participation fee: Free 🔶Aim “The Educational Heritage of Early Modern Japan” consists of Ashikaga Gakko (Ashikaga City), Shizutani Gakko (Bizen City), Kangien/Mameda-Machi(Hita City), Kodokan/Kairakuen (Mito City). In Early Modern Japan, classrooms were made up of tatami mats and wooden floors instead of standing desks and podiums. Early modern Japanese classrooms had a unique space and structure. As a result, Early Modern Japan adopted an education system unlike any other in the world, in which people could study regardless of their status. It was in order to pass on these heritage sites to future generations and share their historical significance with the world, the council is promoting efforts toward the registration of the sites as World Heritage Sites.
